Cinema is one of the most enriched and admired arts. It is all around us and it is very present in everyone’s life, in different ways. Our generation has made it possible for us to find and search even more about our favourite movies, actors, filmmakers, directors etc. IMDb and AllMovie have made every cinema lover’s life easier and richer in information. Both of these databases offer an enormous amount of information about almost every movie ever made.

AllMovie

AllMovie is an online guide service website with information about films, television programs and actors. It was founded in 1998 and its original name was All Movie Guide. The AllMovie database includes basic product information, cast and production credits, plot synopsis, professional reviews, biographies, relational links and more, as I will show further on.

IMDb

IMDb (Internet Movie Database) is an online database of information related to movies, television programs, video games and streaming content online. The information includes cast, personal biographies, production crew, plot summaries, trivia, fan, critical reviews and their very known ratings. IMDb was funded 29 years ago, on 17th of October 1990. Nowadays, it is estimated that IMDb has approximately 6 million titles and 9.9 million personalities in its database, making it on of the biggest cinema database on the internet.

Thoughts

We believe that both databases are very rich, important and useful. We believe that the user can switch from one to another to extract a deeper information about the cinema world because both are very informative and have unique aspects. While it is undeniable that IMDb has a very strong force and presence in the movie world, AllMovie is also very important and rich in information.
